Queering the Act

ABOUT US

Queering the Act is a multimedia project addressing performative activism within the LGBTQIA+ community, enabling the transition from online advocacy to physical, impactful actions. Our project, Queering the Act, emphasizes the value of real engagement in advancing LGBTQIA+ causes, regardless of scale. Recognizing the possible implications of performative activism and the general lack of awareness among participants, our platform functions as an educational catalyst. Queering the Act strives to raise awareness, dispel misconceptions, and contribute to a more discerning LGBTQIA+ community that is actively involved in true, impactful advocacy.

OUR MISSION

Our mission is to help inform the LGBTQIA+ community about engaging in productive advocacies by introducing them to performative activism. The project will let them know what to avoid and to keep in mind while advocating, allowing them to translate their advocacies into action.

OUR VISION

Queering the Act’s vision is to help LGBTQIA+ individuals have a safe space to share their experiences and concerns with advocacy. As well as help with making advocating a productive and conducive environment for the LGBTQIA+ community.

BEHIND QUEERING THE ACT

The project is led by a cohort of students pursuing the AB Multimedia Arts program at De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde. Queering the Act integrates graphics, articles, and visual storytelling to explore a large problem with making activism in the LGBTQIA+ community effective. The project was made for educational purposes only.
